Sexual Assault and Discrimination Support


The following confidential crisis options are available for graduate students:

CARE – advocates provide support and resources for survivors of sexual assault, dating/domestic violence, and stalking. They also offer workshops that address these issues.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) – provides a variety of mental health and wellness services, including same-day and after-hours crisis services, drop-in consultations, groups, workshops, and brief individual therapy.

Monarch Services – advocates are available 24/7 to talk confidentially with anyone experiencing domestic violence, seeking resources or information, or questioning unhealthy aspects of their relationship.

Walnut Avenue Family & Women’s Center – advocates are available to support survivors of domestic violence (DV) through crisis intervention, peer counseling, safety planning, and goal setting. They also have a 24-hour bilingual domestic violence crisis hotline.

National Domestic Violence Hotline – advocates are available 24/7 to talk confidentially with anyone experiencing domestic violence, seeking resources or information, or questioning unhealthy aspects of their relationship.


The following reporting options are available for graduate students:

Title IX/Harassment and Discrimination Prevention and Investigation Unit – provides assistance in resolving and investigating complaints of sexual harassment and sexual violence. Additionally, they provide education and training to raise awareness and expand understanding of sexual harassment and sexual violence.

Student Conduct, Hate/Bias Policies and Reporting – instructions to file a report regarding incidents of hate/bias and sexual violence/sexual harassment can be found under “ways to file a report”.

UC Santa Cruz Police Department – call 911 for emergencies and 831-459-2231 to report incidents

The following academic and general resources are available for graduate students:

Slug Support Program – promotes early intervention with students of concern to prevent culminating problems from escalating into a crisis.

Program contact information for each academic department – this document contains contact information for the Department Chair, Department Manager and Graduate program advisors for each academic department.

SAFE – is a safe place for survivors and victims of sexual assault, dating & domestic violence, stalking, and sexual harassment to get support, consultation, and crisis counseling services.

UC Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment – this Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment Policy applies to all University employees as well as undergraduate, graduate, and professional students, and third parties.
